DUO/Remote Access Token FAQ

1) What is DUO/Remote AccessToken?

A Remote Access Soft Token is a device or program that provides a second factor of authentication to identify individuals. It reduces risk and prevents logins from being compromised.

The new MyDesktop and DPH Webconnect sites use the DUO system to provide users their second-factor code on their smartphone, tablet, or through an automated phone call at your registered phone number.  More information on DUO is available at http://zfgh.ucsf.edu/about-service-faq

The MyDesktop or WebConnect site previously required the use of Physical Entrust tokens.  DPH MyDesktop or Webconnect now uses DUO for Dual-Factor-Authentication, aka soft token (Pictured above right).

2) How do I request a DUO account?

The request must be approved and submitted by your Division Administrator or Management Services Officer (MSO) via the UCSF Account Request Form > Accounts, Email, Access > ARF: Account Request Form (Campus, SOM, ZSFG/SFGH). If you have questions regarding this, contact the UCSF IT Service Desk at (628) 206-5126 for further assistance.

3) Who is eligible to request a DUO account?
